Pattaya –
Two bar managers in the Pattaya area have been arrested for allegedly illegally operating entertainment venues and selling alcohol yesterday (December 19th).
The Pattaya City Police reported on their social media that they inspected two beer bars which were the ‘Easy Bar’ and ‘Thip Bar’ in the Pattaya area yesterday in the early morning hours. Two bar managers have been arrested, although they were not named and customers did not appear to have been fined or charged.
The two unnamed bar managers are facing charges of illegally operating venues, selling alcohol without a permit and breaking the Chonburi Disease Control Order for the ‘Blue Zone’.
The Blue Zone area in Pattaya maintains that entertainment venues, nightclubs, pubs, bars, karaokes, discos, and soapies are officially to remain closed until given relief by the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration, or CCSA.
TPN media notes that officially only restaurants with proper safety and health certification (SHA+) and other qualifications like a Covid free environment can legally sell alcohol at their venue during certain hours.
In reality, however, this rule appears to be loosely followed (to say the least) and enforced with many new “restaurants” popping up around the city.
It was unclear why these particular venues were selected for an inspection versus other “restaurants”, notes TPN staff.
