Pattaya —
A Thai tomboy in Pattaya was arrested for stealing a gas cylinder. Police discovered she was still wearing an electronic ankle bracelet from a recent release from prison.
On July 31st, 2024, Banglamung Police managed to arrest 30-year-old Ms. Rotsukon, also known as Mai, after she was believed to have stolen a 4-kilogram green gas cylinder from a local restaurant in Nongyai near Pattaya. The arrest took place at a house on Soi 12, Naklua sub-district, Banglamung district, Chonburi province.
The arrest followed a report of a theft from a Somtum restaurant. Ms. Rotsukon, whose family name was withheld by police, was captured on a security camera arriving on a motorcycle, taking the gas cylinder, and riding away.
After the restaurant owner filed a complaint, the police quickly managed to identify Ms. Rotsukon and locate her residence. Upon inspection, they found the stolen gas cylinder hidden beside the suspect’s bed, along with the clothes she wore during the incident. Additionally, the suspect was still wearing an electronic ankle bracelet, indicating that she had just been released from prison.
After running a background check, Banglamung Police found that Ms. Rotsukon had been previously arrested for fraud and was released on bail with an electronic monitoring bracelet to track her location. Since her release, she had also been involved in several thefts of electrical wires and coin-operated washing machines in and around the Banglamung area, the police said.
However, Ms. Rotsukon claimed that she took the gas cylinder to use it for cooking, but she was apprehended by the police before she could use it. She remains in police custody at the time of reporting.
