Koh Chang, a popular destination for both Thai and foreign tourists, was closed today (Sunday) until further notice by Mu Koh Chang national park, citing rising COVID-19 infections on the island.
The park’s chief, Niphon Pinyo, issued the order yesterday, also closing several other islands in the park.
All hotels, resorts, hostels and camping sites have been informed that the provision of tourism-related accommodation services is also suspended until further notice.
Koh Chang, in the eastern province of Trat, is Thailand’s second largest island, after Phuket.
The national park covers about 650 square kilometres, including the main island, Koh Chang. It is blessed with long white sandy beaches, mountains, waterfalls, clear water, snorkelling and diving spots. It is also a home to a great variety of wildlife.
