The Thai Prime Mister said on Tuesday, December 21, “From now, we are back to the old system of quarantine when entering.”
Koh Samui District, Surat Thani Province, found three international visitors visiting Koh Samui, two of them British nationals. Two men and a woman; and one Belgian male were infected with the Omicron variant on December 20, following a Test & Go test.
A total of 63 Omicron variant have been discovered.
It was established that Koh Samui Hospital could identify all forms of the virus.
The Centers for Disease Control directed the Koh Samui Hospital and the Koh Samui District Public Health to conduct screenings for high-risk people flying on the same planes as the three tourists infected with the Omicron virus.
High-risk Thai national travellers were also inspected and quarantined as part of the investigation.
The Koh Samui District Disease Control Operation Center authorized the preparations for opening a field hospital to assist.
To ensure the safety of its visitors from other countries, Koh Samui has implemented security measures, including visitors from Thailand. The Thai media reported that the locals are not a concern as all international visitors are fully vaccinated.
Also, Thailand hit a milestone of 100 million jabs administered in the country. Increasing the number of vaccinated people in the country to 60% of the total population.
According to the country’s prime minister, the vaccination campaign began on February 28 and reached its objective of 100 million doses in 265 days.
There were more than 50 million doses of the first vaccination, 44 million doses of the second jab for 61 percent of the population, and 5 million doses of the third jab for a total of 6 percent of Thai people who received the 100 million doses.
He stated that Thailand’s GHS position of fifth in the world was a pleasant surprise to the Thai Prime Minister. The country was ranked first in Asia.
