Thailand was ranked first place in Asia and fifth place in the world in the 2021 Global Health Security Index (GHS), Public Health Ministry Anutin Charnvirakul reported today, December 10th.
The GHS Index ranks 195 countries according to their capacity to respond to global pandemics, initiated and developed by John Hopkins University and Nuclear Threat Initiative.
Thailand was scored 68.2 out of 100 and was ranked number one for the fast and accurate detection and reporting and number two for the rapid response, marking fifth place out of 195 listed countries. The first place is the United States, followed respectively by Australia, Finland, and Canada.
The Public Health Minister also thanked medical frontline staff, officers from all related departments, and private and public sectors who have worked hard to combat the Covid-19 domestic pandemic in Thailand which the health minister said that Thailand has now been recognized as a top global standard in success.
