A 19-year-old Thai man was arrested in Bangkok for allegedly hammering his French father to death.
Pol Lt. Col Prasert Chan-aksorn, deputy chief at the Klong Tan Police Station, led police to arrest the 19-year-old man only identified as Paul at a condominium in the Thong Lor area of Bangkok on Monday, September 4th, following the death of his 52-year-old French father.
Police said that they were called to inspect a three-storey townhouse in Soi Pridi Banomyong 13, Watthana district, on Sunday afternoon, where they found the body of the French national lying in a pool of blood.
The victim, whose name was withheld pending the permission of his family, had sustained fatal head injuries believed to have been inflicted by a bloodied metal hammer found near the body.
Neighbors of the man said to police that they heard the deceased quarrel with his son within the house, which lasted about 15 minutes on Friday evening. Afterward, the sounds ceased, and the house fell into silence and darkness.
The deceased’s wife (name withheld) mentioned that previously, her family used to live in the same house together. However, the deceased had developed a habit of drinking alcohol, so she and her son decided to move out and live elsewhere. She added that her son often exhibited erratic behavior and often argued with his father.
The police held the 19-year-old man in custody on suspicion that he might have murdered his father. Shoes stained with blood were also found in his condo. The officers kept them as evidence.
Additionally, it is reported that the local rescue services were once called to take the suspect for mental treatment twice, but he refused.
