Thailand discovered a total of 7,681 daily Covid-19 infections with 19 additional deaths in the past 24 hours, the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) reported today, January 12th.
The fatalities were 10 men and 9 women with the most numbers recorded in Bangkok with 3. All of them were Thai nationals. The age range was between 19 and 92 years old.
Most of them were reported with underlying health conditions, including hypertension (9), diabetes (3), hyperlipidemia (3), obesity (1), and kidney disease (3). One of the fatalities was a bedridden patient.
Of the new cases, 7,282 were found in hospitals and medical services (which includes contact tracing cases), 110 were from a proactive approach at previously reported clusters, 12 were from prisons, and the remaining 277 were imported cases.
A number of 66,286 patients are still under treatment/isolation/medical care. Of that, 480 patients are in critical condition including 108 on ventilators. This is roughly 0.72 percent of cases that are critical while 22.5 percent of that is critical enough for a ventilator.
Regarding the non-prison local infections, the highest number of patients were reported in Bangkok with 892, followed by Chonburi with 873, Samut Prakan with 523, Phuket with 488, Khon Kaen with 277, and Ubon Ratchathani with 269.
A total number of 513,208 people nationwide have received Covid-19 vaccines in the past 24 hours. Of that, 49,784 people had received their first shots, 133,047 people had received their second shots, and 330,377 people had received their third shots. This is roughly 71.6% of the total Thai population who have had their first shot of a Covid-19 vaccine, 65.3% who have had a second shot and are fully vaccinated, and 12.0% have had a third booster shot.
As of today, 3,350 people fully recovered in the past 24 hours and have been released from field hospitals and quarantine centers. Thailand has now reached a total of 2,292,290 cases with 2,204,135 recoveries and a total of 21,869 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
