Thailand discovered a total of 6,397 daily Covid-19 infections with 18 additional deaths in the past 24 hours, the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) reported today, January 18th.
The fatalities were 7 men and 11 women with the highest number reported in Bangkok with 3. 17 of them were Thai nationals and one was a Myanmar national. The age range was between 70 and 93 years old.
Most of them were reported with underlying health conditions, including hypertension (7), diabetes (5), hyperlipidemia (2), obesity (2), and kidney disease (2). One of the fatalities was a bedridden patient.
Of the new cases, 6,173 were found in hospitals and medical services (which includes contact tracing cases), 49 were from a proactive approach at previously reported clusters, 10 were from prisons, and the remaining 165 were imported cases.
A number of 81,952 patients are still under treatment/isolation/medical care. Of that, 534 patients are in critical condition including 114 on ventilators. This is roughly 0.65 percent of cases that are critical while 21.3 percent of that is critical enough for a ventilator.
Regarding the non-prison local infections, the highest number of patients were reported in Bangkok with 753, followed by Samut Prakan with 598, Chonburi with 556, Phuket with 348, Nonthaburi with 281, and Khon Kaen with 274.
A total number of 286,508 people nationwide have received Covid-19 vaccines in the past 24 hours. Of that, 25,233 people had received their first shots, 57,202 people had received their second shots, and 204,073 people had received their third shots. This is roughly 72.0% of the total Thai population who have had their first shot of a Covid-19 vaccine, 66.1% who have had a second shot and are fully vaccinated, and 14.4% have had a third booster shot.
As of today, 6,637 people fully recovered in the past 24 hours and have been released from field hospitals and quarantine centers. Thailand has now reached a total of 2,337,811 cases with 2,233,903 recoveries and a total of 21,956 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
