Thailand discovered a total of 3,787 daily Covid-19 infections with 20 additional deaths in the past 24 hours, the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) reported today, December 12th.
The fatalities were 9 men and 11 women with the most numbers recorded with 2 deaths in Pattani, Satun, Prachinburi, and Phitsanulok. All of them were Thai nationals. The age range was between 35 and 90 years old.
Most of them were reported with underlying health conditions, including hypertension (12), diabetes (4), hyperlipidemia (6), obesity (1), and kidney disease (5).
Of the new cases, 3,720 were found in hospitals and medical services (which includes contact tracing cases), 38 were from a proactive approach at previously reported clusters, 5 were from prisons, and the remaining 24 were imported cases.
A number of 51,616 patients are still under treatment/isolation/medical care. Of that, 1,105 patients are in critical condition including 309 on ventilators. This is roughly 2.14 percent of cases that are critical while 27.9 percent of that is critical enough for a ventilator.
Regarding the non-prison local infections, the highest number of patients were reported in Bangkok with 631, followed by Nakhon Sri Thammarat with 349, Chonburi with 167, Samut Prakan with 155, Songkhla with 145, and Surat Thani with 125.
A total number of 144,423 people nationwide have received Covid-19 vaccines in the past 24 hours. Of that, 41,894 people had received their first shots, 63,520 people had received their second shots, and 39,009 people had received their third shots. This is roughly 69.3% of the total Thai population who have had their first shot of a Covid-19 vaccine, 60.1% who have had a second shot and are fully vaccinated, and 5.7% have had a third booster shot.
As of today, 5,606 people fully recovered in the past 24 hours and have been released from field hospitals and quarantine centers. Thailand has now reached a total of 2,168,646 cases with 2,095,859 recoveries and a total of 21,171 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
