RECAP: Thailand reports 3,037 daily Covid-19 infections with 25 additional deaths today

Thailand discovered a total of 3,037 daily Covid-19 infections with 25 additional deaths in the past 24 hours, the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) reported today, December 30th.

The fatalities were 15 men and 10 women with the most numbers recorded in Bangkok and Chiang Mai with 3. 23 of them were Thai nationals and one of each was a Cambodian and Myanmar national. The age range was between 26 and 93 years old.

Most of them were reported with underlying health conditions, including hypertension (11), diabetes (8), hyperlipidemia (3), obesity (2), and kidney disease (3). One of the fatalities was a bedridden patient.

Of the new cases, 2,794 were found in hospitals and medical services (which includes contact tracing cases), 50 were from a proactive approach at previously reported clusters, 81 were from prisons, and the remaining 112 were imported cases.

A number of 33,399 patients are still under treatment/isolation/medical care. Of that, 626 patients are in critical condition including 161 on ventilators. This is roughly 1.87 percent of cases that are critical while 25.7 percent of that is critical enough for a ventilator.

Regarding the non-prison local infections, the highest number of patients were reported in Bangkok with 430, followed by Chonburi with 304, Nakhon Sri Thammarat with 134, Ubon Ratchatani with 126, Samut Prakan with 83, and Maha Sarakam with 83.

A total number of 455,208 people nationwide have received Covid-19 vaccines in the past 24 hours. Of that, 67,742 people had received their first shots, 185,597 people had received their second shots, and 201,869 people had received their third shots. This is roughly 71.1% of the total Thai population who have had their first shot of a Covid-19 vaccine, 63.8% who have had a second shot and are fully vaccinated, and 9.4% have had a third booster shot.

As of today, 3,115 people fully recovered in the past 24 hours and have been released from field hospitals and quarantine centers. Thailand has now reached a total of 2,220,324 cases with 2,165,253 recoveries and a total of 21,672 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
