Thailand discovered a total of 2,862 daily Covid-19 infections with 37 additional deaths in the past 24 hours, the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) reported today, December 14th.
The fatalities were 22 men and 15 women with the most numbers recorded in Bangkok with 12. 36 of them were Thai nationals and one was a Myanmar national. The age range was between 25 and 95 years old.
Most of them were reported with underlying health conditions, including hypertension (19), diabetes (10), hyperlipidemia (11), obesity (1), and kidney disease (5). Two of the fatalities were bedridden patients.
Of the new cases, 2,799 were found in hospitals and medical services (which includes contact tracing cases), 27 were from a proactive approach at previously reported clusters, 17 were from prisons, and the remaining 19 were imported cases.
A number of 47,531 patients are still under treatment/isolation/medical care. Of that, 1,039 patients are in critical condition including 296 on ventilators. This is roughly 2.18 percent of cases that are critical while 28.4 percent of that is critical enough for a ventilator.
Regarding the non-prison local infections, the highest number of patients were reported in Bangkok with 570, followed by Nakhon Sri Thammarat with 225, Chonburi with 136, Songkhla with 119, Surat Thani with 106, and Samut Prakan with 102.
A total number of 250,737 people nationwide have received Covid-19 vaccines in the past 24 hours. Of that, 57,155 people had received their first shots, 128,459 people had received their second shots, and 65,123 people had received their third shots. This is roughly 69.4% of the total Thai population who have had their first shot of a Covid-19 vaccine, 60.3% who have had a second shot and are fully vaccinated, and 5.8% have had a third booster shot.
As of today, 4,818 people fully recovered in the past 24 hours and have been released from field hospitals and quarantine centers. Thailand has now reached a total of 2,174,906 cases with 2,106,144 recoveries and a total of 21,231 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
