Thailand’s Ministry of Public Health is offering free Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine booster shots at Bang Sue grand station in Bangkok from this Saturday (December 18th) until further notice, but only to those who were previously inoculated at this facility.
Those who want the booster jab must have received two doses of AstraZeneca vaccine, one dose of either Sinovac or Sinopharm and a second dose of AstraZeneca or one dose of either Sinovac or Sinopharm and a second of Pfizer at Bang Sue grand station since August 30th.
The ministry has decided to move up its booster vaccination plan by about three months, as a precautionary measure to reduce the risk of hospitalisation or death from the Omicron variant.
Historical records of vaccinations at the Bang Sue facility will be used as the basis for the sending of text messages about appointments for the booster shots, so people can decide whether to receive the booster shot and choose a convenient appointment.
Appointment dates and times can also be checked via the “Vaccine บางซื่อ (Bang Sue)” application.
Meanwhile, the COVID-19 Information Centre reported today (Wednesday) that, between February 18th and December 13th, more than 97.6 million doses of vaccines were administered in Thailand’s 77 provinces.
Recipients include 49,980,431 people who have received first vaccine doses, 43,461,981 who have received two doses and 4,211,442 who have received three.
The COVID-19 Information Centre also reported 3,370 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, including 111 cases among inmates in prisons and 20 among foreign arrivals. 29 more deaths were reported and 46,315 people are still being treated in hospitals.
