The Finance Ministry, Bank of Thailand, and Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) have agreed to a plan to regulate and limit the use of cryptocurrencies as a means of paying for goods and services, to prevent such transactions from affecting Thailand’s financial stability and economic system, pending public hearings on the matter.

Tens of thousands of drivers in Bangkok face fines for encroaching onto the zebra crossing
Bangkok’s Thonglor traffic police plan to notify over 25,000 motorists and motorcyclists, who were caught by surveillance cameras encroaching on zebra crossings at the Asoke-Sukhumvit intersection, to pay their fines.

Cannabis, hemp greenlighted to be decriminalized in Thailand, recreational use remains banned
Thailand’s Narcotics Control Board today (Tuesday) endorsed the Ministry of Public Health’s drafted announcement on decriminalizing cannabis and hemp, by removing the two plants from Category 5 of the drug list, which will pave the way for their legal cultivation.

Phuket Immigration: COVID Visa Extensions until Mar 25, all other visas roll back to pre-COVID times
Phuket Immigration has confirmed that COVID Visa extensions will continue to be provided through to Mar 25, but that extensions to stay for foreigners on Non-Immigrant visas will no longer be automatically issued. Instead, the requirements will now roll back to pre-COVID conditions.
