The country registered 22 more Covid-19 fatalities and 8,078 new cases during the previous 24 hours, the Public Health Ministry announced on Thursday morning.
This compared with the 19 coronavirus-related fatalities and 7,587 new cases reported on Wednesday morning.
The 22 new fatalities were between the ages of 46 and 96 years old.
Bangkok logged two new deaths while three other fatalities were reported in the adjacent provinces of Pathum Thani (2) and Nonthaburi (1).
Other central plain provinces further from the capital recorded five more deaths in Kanchanaburi (2), Chon Buri (1), Ayutthaya (1) and Suphan Buri (1).
The Northeast had six new fatalities in Nakhon Ratchasima (2), Loei (1), Kalasin (1), Maha Sarakham (1) and Nong Bua Lam Phu (1).
The South reported three more deaths in Phatthalung (2) and Ranong (1).
The North had three new fatalities in Mae Hong Son, Nan and Lampang.
The new infection cases comprised 7,816 cases among general people, 37 among prison inmates and 225 imported cases.
Of the local Covid-19 infections, 7,772 were confirmed at hospitals and 44 via mass testing.
Bangkok still had the most new cases at 1,427, followed by 692 in Samut Prakan, 460 in Nonthaburi, 334 in Chon Buri, 332 in Phuket, 247 in Khon Kaen, 204 in Nakhon Si Thammarat, 195 in Pathum Thani, 187 in Ratchaburi and 129 each in Udon Thani and Lop Buri.
The 225 imported cases included 85 from Russia, 20 from Kazakhstan, 13 from France, eight from Denmark and seven each from Germany, the United Kingdom and Australia.
On Wednesday 82,760 people received Covid-19 treatment at hospitals (up from 81,299), including 548 seriously ill patients with lung inflammation (up from 519) and 102 dependent on ventilators (up from 97).
The 24-hour period also saw 7,801 Covid-19 patients discharged from hospitals after recovering from the coronavirus.
Since the pandemic started in early 2020, there have been 2,407,022 Covid-19 cases, including 183,587 cases this year, with 2,302,164 complete recoveries to date.
The death toll stood at 22,098 since the beginning of the pandemic, including 400 so far this year.
The kingdom’s 24-hour high of Covid-related fatalities was 312 recorded on Aug 13, 2021. The highest number of cases was 23,418 on Aug 18, 2021.
Global Covid-19 cases rose by 3.52 million in 24 hours to 363.06 million. The worldwide death toll went up by 10,647 to 5.64 million.
The United States had the most cases at 74.18 million, up 533,313, and the most deaths at 898,680, up 3,143.
