On Saturday, the National Health Security of Surat Thani came to an agreement to pay 400,000 baht compensating for the loss of the leg of a 20-year old student. Her left leg had to be cut off after she received the second dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine.
It has been reported that the vaccine led to create a blood clot in the lower part of the leg below the knee.
The student who comes from the Phang Nga province is being provided with medical treatment in Hat Yai district of Songkhla at the Songklanagarind hospital as stated by the deputy director of the office, Panida Chantharangsikul.
She said that in an attempt to somehow ease her struggles and sufferings as soon as possible, the student has received 400,000 baht given by the office as the decision was resolved after the accident. The amount is considered as the maximum compensation for permanent disability or death from medical mishaps.
It was added in the statement that complaints have been filed by four more people after getting their vaccine jabs and they will receive the compensation soon. She assured that a total of 1.33 million baht will be handed to the five victims as total compensation for the mishaps.
